The Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District commissioned RRA to develop design guidelines intended to unify and raise the visibility of the commercial corridor between the Jamaica AirTrain Terminal and Hillside Avenue. After detailed research and analysis into the zoning, traffic patterns, historical development and programmatic layout of the district, Ronnette Riley Architect developed a booklet detailing best practices for retailers to use as a guideline for improvements to their storefront design. These guidelines included code requirements, a breakdown of storefront design elements, material and lighting suggestions as well as a graphic kit of parts intended to make the process of implementing these renovations as accessible and straightforward as possible for local business owners.
