JFK AirTrain Wayfinding

Long Island Rail Road

STRATEGY

Jamaica, NY

New York City’s Jamaica Station is one of the busiest railroad stations in NYC with a weekday ridership of 200,000 passengers, leading new passengers arriving at John F. Kennedy International Aiport (JFK) and regular commuters from Long Island into New York City and vice versa. Working alongside STV, RRA was involved with the design and production of the multi-year overhaul plan for Jamaica Station as part of the larger improvement of JFK AirTrain. The 3-part overhaul strategy RRA and STV presents is a long-term investment to improve the wayfinding, accessibility, and structural integrity of the station. Every step of the design accounts for energy efficiency improvements and the phasing to provide transit service throughout the extensive renovation of Jamaica Station.
