Queens Public Parking & Community Space Wayfinding

Wayfinding/Signage

STRATEGY & INFRASTRUCTURE

Queens, NY

The Queens Public Parking & Community Space is the first project in the city’s Borough-Based Jails. This project was a collaboration between Urbahn Architects, Marvel, Hunter Roberts Construction Group, and Ronnette Riley Architect. RRA designed the wayfinding/signage by meticulously hand selecting each element to provide a pleasant and easy to navigate experience for the users.

The building’s exterior signage concept is based on elegance, clarity, and a clear visibility in harmony with a strong architectural expression of the buildings. Without competing with the architectural language, RRA chose backlit stainless-steel lettering pinned to the structure that produces enough visibility and contrast yet blends with the environment.
