The design of the PS134 Library takes advantage of the generous proportions and light within this 1901 C.B.J. Snyder building. A mural above the custom perimeter bookcases creates an identifiable sense of place that ties into the generations of students who attended PS134. RRA’s mural design interweaves historic photographs with a colorful three-dimensional geometric pattern and offers up a narrative about children and the school over time, including images of PS134 from 1901. The visual timeline encourages kids to reflect playfully on the world at large back then and now.
